My Favorite Local Event of the Year

A few weeks ago, I attended the Old Town Alexandria Festival of Speed and Style, an event I look forward to every year. It’s not just a car show… It’s a celebration of automotive history, fashion, and culture all in one. The Festival of Speed and Style is described as “the largest, most popular, and most impactful event in Old Town Alexandria.” From classic Ferraris to American muscle, the variety of cars on display is truly remarkable. I like to think of it as a miniature Concours d’Elegance, packed into the streets of Old Town Alexandria.

The AC Ace Bristol

Of all the beautiful cars at the show, my favorite that attended was the AC Ace Bristol. This British classic paved the way for the legendary Shelby Cobra. This particular Ace won first place at the world-renowned Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. What makes this car even more special is that it’s not just stored away; the owner regularly drives it, which is exactly what should happen with pieces of automotive history like this.

Community of Car Enthusiasts

While the cars are incredible, the best part of the Festival of Speed and Style is the people. Whether I’m catching up with old friends or meeting new enthusiasts, it’s the shared passion that makes this event special. With the caliber of vehicles that trend, each one seems to carry a unique backstory. That’s what I love most about classic cars. They are time capsules filled with craftsmanship that most modern cars just can’t replicate.

A Growing Celebration of Heritage

It’s amazing to see how this event continues to grow each year, drawing in more spectators and car owners who care deeply about preserving automotive heritage. Below, I’ve included some photos of the award winners from the event. If you see your car, feel free to contact me for the photos!
